It is the designation for the crop field area on the east side of the north-south road. In the case of Hasebe-shinden, its name may have derived from the meaning suggesting that it was within a field surrounded by a forest serving as a windbreak and for supplying firewood and fallen leaves to be harvested for compost. Generally, however, a crop field called Nakkapara was one near houses with good usability, and distinguished from those remote fields cleared and cultivated at a later historical time.
