横穴墓(よこあなぼ)は、古墳時代の終わりに、丘陵斜面に横に穴を掘り、造られたお墓の名称である。
全国的に分布しているが、東上総(ひがしかずさ)の横穴墓(よこあなぼ)は、「高壇式(こうだんしき)」と呼ばれる特殊な形態の横穴墓(よこあなぼ)が多く、特に「史跡長柄横穴群(しせきながらよこあなぐん)」はその代表的な遺跡として、平成7年に史跡として指定された。

Yokoana-bo (cave tombs) are the tombs created in the hills by digging a horizontal cave in the end of the Kofun period (tumulus period).
They are distributed throughout Japan, but many of those in Higashi-Kazusa (eastern part of central Chiba) are of the special form called "Koudanshiki." Being a typical example of this type, the Nagara Yokoana-gun (a group of cave tombs) was designated as a historic landmark in the Heisei period 7 (1995) .
