銘文に、梵鐘(ぼんしょう)の鋳造(ちゅうぞう)の経緯が記されており、当時の飯尾の状況がうかがわれる。また、寛文4年(1661)に、茂原市本納在住の鋳工鵜沢右近信重が製作したこともわかる。

The inscription describes the history how the Bonshou was cast, which allows us to see the situations in Iio during this period. It also tells that a caster named Uzawa Ukon-Nobushige of Honnou, Mobara, cast the bell in the Kanbun period 4 (1661).
