石灯籠(いしどうろう)は、平安時代から神社にも置かれるようになり、社寺の堂前に2基を配する形式は室町時代以降といわれている。この石灯籠(いしどうろう)は、銘により明暦2年(1656)の作品である。

Ishi-dourou has been placed in shrines since Heian era. Placing two of them in front of a temple or shrine is said to be after Muromachi era. The inscription of the Ishi-dourou indicates that it was made in the Meireki period 2 (1656).
