          "現在はほ場整備が実施され当時とは異なる景観になっているが、国道325号線の東側、ワクド石遺跡の北西約1km、合志台地が緩やかに傾斜する中間地点で、昭和39年(1964)、堆肥処理の施設を整備中に偶然出土したものである。  　弥生時代のものといわれ、鉾の本体に銘文はなく、全体が緑青(ろくしょう)に覆われている。  　銅鉾は、古代中国から朝鮮半島を通じて伝わった。槍のように用いる武器だが、槍と異なるのは、基部が袋状になり、そこに柄を差し込んで使用する点である。柄と基部を固定するために、基部の側面に耳と呼ばれる紐がある。川辺銅鉾は中広形に分類される。  　始め20cmほどの長さで武器として使用されていたものが、次第に大型化し、のちには祭祀用として用いられたといわれる。"
