  "description": "13代菊池武重の弟で、武重の死後16歳のときに家督を継承した。北朝方の混乱に乗じて筑後などへの進出を試みたがうまくいかなかった。のちに合志幸隆に本城(菊之城)を奪われ、これを奪還した武光に15代の家督を譲り(1344年)、出家して寂照と号し、諸国修行の途についた。  菊池に帰ってきたのは17代武朝の時代(1376年)で、大円寺(菊池市寺小野)で「袖ふれし　花も昔を忘れずば　我が墨染めをあはれとはみよ」と短歌を詠んでいる。その歌碑は台風により再三破壊されたが、昔の墨痕そのままを再現して建立された。  墓所は八代市二見の、武士が開いた正福寺の裏山の墓地内にある。",
