          "小正月に鬼を追い払うためにつくり、飾るもの。「十三月」と書かれたものは通常の年用であり、胡桃の木でつくられる。明治５年（1872）まで、閏年は一年が13ヶ月、通常の年は一年が12ヶ月だった。そのため、通常の年の12月に「十三月」と書いて飾っておくと、家に入ろうとした鬼が混乱し、カヤの葉で目を突いて逃げていくと伝えられている。これは、小谷村大網の今井家でつくられた。　[長野県有形民俗文化財(第278号)小正月資料コレクション　143]"
