          "阪神西宮東口駅と戦前に設置された地下道が見えています。明治18年、染殿町の東川そばに青物卸売市場が開設され、明治38年4月12日には阪神電鉄の開通と同時に西宮東口駅が設置されました。駅ができると卸売市場の客目当ての軽飲食店が建ち並び、門戸・伊丹方面のバスも発着するようになりました。大正2年に武庫郡役所、大正9年に町立西宮高等女学校が染殿町に移転してきたことで乗降客数が増え、大正13年には阪神西宮駅よりも多い68万人余りとなりました。昭和に入ってから8年に神戸女学院が神戸から岡田山に移転してくると、阪神西宮東口駅から国鉄(JR)西宮を経て正門まで阪神合同バス専用車が走り、当時流行のロングスカートを身に着けた生徒たちでにぎわいました。◆戦後も変わらぬたたずまいで地域の人々に愛されましたが、阪神連続立体化事業にともない平成13年3月3日廃止されました。現在は駅跡地に記念碑が建てられ、往時のにぎわいをしのぶことが出来ます。"
