昭和30（1955）年代まで、現在の池も含めて、今のさざんかホールが建っている場所も、すべて池でした。この辺りは、昭和の初めころには、馬冷池公園として、市民の憩いの場になっていました。
Until around 1955, the entire area where the present-day Sazanka Hall stands, including the current pond, was a pond. In the beginning of the Showa period, this area was Bareiike Park, which residents visited as a place to relax.

今 Present

さざんかホールの前の坂道の正面には、寄棟造りの本堂が国の重要文化財に指定されている不動院(大日堂)があります。ここは、もと金輪山証菩提寺(しょうぼだいじ)といい、聖徳太子の建立と伝えられています。その後、高田城主当麻為長(とうまためなが)が、文明15(1483)年に建立しました。御室派真言宗で、本尊は、大日如来です。
Situated in front of the slope leading to Sazanka Hall is Fudo-in Temple (Dainichido Hall), whose hip-roofed main hall has been designated as one of Japan’s important cultural properties. It is said that the temple was formerly Kinrinzan Shobodai-ji Temple, constructed by Prince Shotoku. Then, the temple was built by Tamenaga Toma, who was the owner of Takada Castle in 1483. This is a temple of the Omuro School of the Shingon sect, and its principal object of worship is Dainichinyorai．
