高田城址について(大和高田市本郷町)
Site of Takada Castle (Hongo Cho, Yamato Takada City)
 

高田城は、常光寺公園一帯にあったようで、城のほとんどが、二つの池(現在は、片塩小学校と池)になったようです。
Takada Castle reportedly occupied the entire Joko-ji Park and most of the castle eventually became two ponds (currently, Katashio Elementary School and a pond)．

 

近世には、池は今の3分の1位だったようです。周辺の字名には、「城之内(しろのうち)」、「馬場」という城を彷彿とさせる字名が残っています。
今は公園になった滑り台あたりから片塩小学校にかけて、昔はすべて池でした。昭和45(1970)年頃に池が埋め立てられて、現在の片塩小学校があります。
In the early modern period, the pond was reportedly one third of the size of the current pond. Names such as “Shiro-no-uchi” and “Baba,” which reference certain parts of the castle, are still used in the sub-district names of the vicinity．
In the old days, the entire area from around the slide which became a park to Katashio Elementary School was a pond. The pond was landfilled around 1970 and present-day Katashio Elementary School was built there．
