Transformation of the Street to the JR Station (Hongo Cho, Yamato Takada City)
今 Present
この写真の道の先は、現在も変わらず、天神橋筋商店街へ続いていますが、手前の道には、昔、踏切まで両側にお店が並んでいました。また、踏切には、係のおじさんがいて、手動で踏切を上げたり下ろしたりしていました。これは、国鉄(JR)の列車が多く通ったためです。
The street ahead of this photo has remained unchanged and still leads to the Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street, however, the foreground street once had stores lining both sides up to the railroad crossing. There was also someone who was in charge of manually raising and lowering the railroad crossing barrier. It was because there were many Japanese National Railways (JR) trains that traveled through the crossing.

同じ頃のたばこ屋さんの前から東を向いて撮影した写真です。正面奥に踏み切りが見えます。ここもお店が並んでいました。
This is a photo that was taken facing east from in front of the tobacco store at around the same period. You can see a railway crossing straight in the back. Stores lined this area as well.
今 Present
右側にあるたばこ屋さんは、昔は旅館でした。そして、その奥の市営駐車場付近には写真下のような木造の建物がありました。
The tobacco store on the right side used to be an inn. Near the municipal parking lot shown further in the back, there was a wooden building similar to the one shown in the photo below.
昭和34(1959)年の写真です。高田~高取間のバスが開通した年です。大きな垂れ幕が見えます。
正面に旅館の看板が見えます。また、その奥に当時の旧郵便局(図書館)の建物が見えます。本郷町にある現在の駐車場も元は旅館だったようです。
This is a photo taken in 1959. It was the year when the bus service started between Takada and Takatori. You can see a big banner in the photo.
In front is a signboard for the inn. Further back, you can also see the building of the old post office (library) at that time. The present-day parking lot in Hongo Cho also was originally an inn.
昔 Past
これは旧高田郵便局で、その後、大和高田市の図書館になりました。
旧高田郵便局は昭和26(1951)年、国鉄(JR)高田駅前から本郷町へ移転しました。
その後、昭和49(1974)年に神楽へ移転しました。

This is the former Takada Post Office, which later became Yamato Takada City Library.
The former Takada Post Office, which was located in front of the Japanese National Railways (JR) Takada Station, was moved to Hongo Cho in 1951.
Then, the post office was moved again to Jinraku in 1974.
