The Bansenshukai written in 1676, is the largest book compilation on ninjutsu of Iga-ryus and Koka-ryu schools. It is thought that Fujibayashi Yasutake compiled this book. He was a descendant of Fujibayashi Nagaonokami, a member of an elite Iga ninja clan settled in Yubune District. However, another view contends it was merely passed down in the Fujibayashi family since only the name “Fujibayashi” is written on the front cover of this ancient ninjutsu manual. The Bansenshukai is regarded as one of the three major ninjtusu documents, along with the Shoninki and the Shinobihiden. Ninjutsu secrets, including various ninja techniques and knowledge, as well as the origin and meaning of ninjutsu, are systematically explained in this book. It is the ninjutsu A to Z encyclopedia.
