六月二日（金）
Reached the mouth of Nagasaki harbor about 2 o’clock this morning and waited until daylight when the health doctors came on board to inspect the crew and passengers. Fortunately no case of sickness. The Nippon Maru is quarantined. After breakfast went on phone and called at Tsukasa Shokai and found out that ［Hiro?］ has not yet come. Then called on Mr. Segawa and took tiffin with him. He came on board to see me off. It is quite warm in the afternoon. We are to sail by 6 o'clock.
今朝2時頃に長崎湾口に到着し、夜明けまで待った後、乗組員や乗船客の健康状態を診に医師たちが乗船してきた。幸いなことに、病気にかかっている人はいなかったようだ。日本丸は検疫を受けている。朝食の後ツカサ商会に電話して、ヒロ［？］がまだ来ていないということを知った。その後ミスター・セガワを訪ね、一緒に軽い昼食を食べた。彼は私を見送るために一時的に乗船してくれた。午後はかなり暖かい。6時までには出発する予定だ。
