歌人名と本文を百体散らし書きにする。了栄の極札に「臨江斎紹巴 百人一首一冊 外題三条西公条公」（表）、「秋の田の四半本戊辰七（了延）印」（裏）とある。臨江斎は紹巴 (1527～1602) の別号。奈良一乗院松井昌祐の子で、19歳のときに出家し紹巴と称した。天正10年 (1582) 明智光秀叛逆の際、『愛宕百韻』の発句「天の下しる」の語が秀吉の吟味を受けたことは有名。源氏注釈『二十巻抄』、百人一首『紹巴抄』、連歌に『至宝抄』『式目秘抄』など著述が多い。

|
The poetsʼ names and their poems are written in different forms of calligraphy scattered across the pages. Kiwamefuda (guaranteed seal) of Kohitsu (connoisseur) Ryoei has on the front “Rinkosai Joha; One book of Hyakunin Isshu ; Title written by Sanjonishi Kinʼeda,” and on the verso “a square book beginning with the poem “Aki no ta no”; 7th month of 1748 (the year of the fifth of the sexagenary cycle) by Kohitsu (connoiseur) Royen; with seal.” Rinkosai is another name for Joha (1527-1602). He was the son of Matsui Shoyu, who belonged to the Ichijoin temple in Nara. At 19, he took religious orders and the name Joha. In 1582 (Tensho 10), he was investigated by Hashiba Hideyoshi after his joining in the Atago Hyakuin (One hundred linked poem composed at Mount Atago) under suspicion that he might know Akechi Mitsuhideʼs intentions because the first line “under heaven” also means “obtain the world” at the time of Akechi Mitsuhideʼs rebellion, which is a famous episode. He was written many works, including the Annotation in twenty volumes annotation to the Tale of Genji , and his Annotations by Joha on the Hyakunin Isshu, and Shihosho, and Shikimoku Hisho on how-to-books on renga.
